This as some speculate that the system of government in the province might not survive its five-year term.
Ntuli who is the IFP chairperson took office after a coalition agreement between the IFP, the ANC, the DA and the NFP following the general elections in May. He has described the decision to place the community safety portfolio under his department as an important move. “I wanted to be closer to the programme of combating crime. I met the eThekwini Business Chamber of Commerce and they were categoric that crime is a threat to business. As a result, some businesses that employed thousands and thousands of people have relocated to places outside the business of KwaZulu-Natal because of crime,” adds Ntuli.
“Even when you talk about the tourism industry, when there is crime in our streets, the tourists are not finding it friendly to visit our province. The economic growth will not be realised when there are no investors who have the zeal to invest in our province,” he adds.
