Dr. Nasiphi Moya, the newly elected mayor of Tshwane, brings both experience and a clear vision to her role. As the former deputy mayor under Cilliers Brink, she is no stranger to the executive responsibilities of the city. Moya is a member of ActionSA, and her election followed a political realignment in which ActionSA, alongside the ANC and the EFF, supported a motion of no confidence against Brink, the Democratic Alliance (DA) mayor. Moya won the mayoral race with 122 votes to Brink’s 86.

She has made a strong commitment to political stability, emphasizing that she is not just a mayor for any particular party or group but for all the residents of Tshwane. Her goals include improving basic service delivery, addressing the gap between affluent and underprivileged areas, and creating a more inclusive and fair city. Moya has pledged to focus on financial discipline while working collaboratively across political lines to restore public confidence in the city’s governance.

Her leadership also marks a turning point in the city’s politics, with key stakeholders like the South African Municipal Workers' Union (SAMWU) welcoming her election, viewing it as an opportunity for the much-needed transformation in Tshwane. However, the DA has expressed concerns, warning that Moya's power might be influenced by factions within the ANC and EFF. Moya's term is expected to last for two years, during which she aims to restore order, improve services, and foster unity across the various political entities in Tshwane.
