Large numbers of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members have started arriving at a hall in Vryheid to attend the funeral of eight of the 10 party members who died in a horrific crash on Monday. The victims were passengers in a bus which was involved in a collision with a truck near Ulundi on the R34 in northern KwaZulu-Natal. They were returning from a June 16th Youth Day rally in Durban.

Leaders of the EFF, including party leader Julius Malema, as well as members of parliament and representatives from other political parties, are expected to attend the funeral service. According to Mongezi Thwala, the provincial chairperson of the EFF, the party offered assistance to the families whose loved ones will be laid to rest later today. “All preparations are going well and we have been working with all the families of the deceased. Today, we are expecting the (EFF) president, who is going to deliver a keynote address mourning the passing of our soldiers who died in a bus crash.

We are expecting to have a good send-off today and we have been working very well in ensuring that we have a good send-off. We are expecting dignitaries and also politicians from other political parties. All the members of the EFF are also making their way to have a beautiful send-off for our fallen heroes and heroines.
