Zulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini's plans to marry his third fiancée, Nomzamo Myeni, have encountered significant complications. Initially, reports indicated that the king had called off the wedding, which was scheduled for January 24-26, 2025, in Jozini, KwaZulu-Natal. A letter, purportedly from the king, directed to Dr.

Nonhlanhla Mkhize, the director-general in the Office of the Premier, stated: "Due to reasons beyond the control of the Royal House, the traditional wedding ceremonies involving Ms. Myeni have been called off. As a result, it has become necessary to terminate all associated arrangements." The letter also instructed the immediate withdrawal of all benefits and security details previously assigned to Ms. Myeni. This development followed legal action by the king's first wife, Queen Ntokozo kaMayisela, who sought to interdict the marriage, arguing that it would constitute bigamy under South African law.

Queen Ntokozo and King Misuzulu, married in a civil union in 2021, are currently engaged in divorce proceedings. In her court application, Queen Ntokozo contended that another marriage would cause "chaos and turmoil" within the family. However, in a subsequent twist, King Misuzulu and Ms. Myeni denied the cancellation reports. In an interview, the king stated, "I love my wife and will marry her by force." Ms. Myeni also expressed surprise, saying, "What cancellation? What are you talking about? I'm with the king here and we do not know what you are talking about." Amid these conflicting reports, the Pietermaritzburg High Court is set to hear Queen Ntokozo's application to prevent the marriage. The outcome of this legal proceeding will likely provide clarity on the status of the king's intended nuptials.
